People Make A Business and Culture Keeps Them There
In the year 2000, I stumbled across a job ad for a permanent role in a hotel in Sydney. It was for a Human Resources Assistant at the Park Hyatt, which is one of the most prestigious hotels in the country. I applied, had the interview and was offered the role. I almost didn’t take it. However, after speaking with a few people, I changed my mind. In hindsight, this was a great decision. It started me on a journey understanding how Human Resources is the number one asset in a company.
Over the last 20 years I have watched the HR profession move from being completely about the policies and processes only to being one that focuses on people, culture and well being. This is true human resource management. Any organisation is only as good as the people who make up it, if we look after their health and well being, then they will look after the organisations.
To me, the best part of church life is the people God brings together to be His Church. It is therefore our role as leaders to make sure they are being cared for the way God would want them to be.

I’ll be sharing some of the ideas, learnings and strategies that I have been involved with, developed and implemented over the last 20 years of being in the HR field. I’ll also be sharing thoughts on what we can do to improve our culture and to best look after our people better.
